Prior to being acquired by Verizon Wireless, Alltel was the 5th largest wireless provider in the US with over 13 million subscribers as of 2008. The company is focused on providing wireless coverage for small and medium towns, although it also provides national coverage through low cost roaming agreements with larger providers.

In January 2009 Verizon Wireless acquired AllTel and became the largest US wireless carrier.

Technology and roaming

Alltel operates mostly on the 800 MHz band and has roaming agreements with Verizon Wireless and Nextel.

Customer service review
I have had the best customer service with Steve Anderson Area Manager here in Ashtabula Ohio and Shawn Fitzgerald Account Executive .I am getting married and have very little time to spend on getting a phone or trouble shooting phone issues, Steve and Shawn went beyond the call for me. I will be buying all my phones from those guys; its great to see that there still is some people who believe in good honest customer service . I am also here in Ohio setting up a business for a very large company. this is my job and i have to get new cell phones set up for all our on call associates . I will be making a recommendation that our company uses Alltel as those phones. with luck this will bring business well deserve to Steve and Shawn. I hope whoever reads this well do business with these gentlemen,thank you for reading this comment.
