Reviews » Power Net Global toll free

Power Net Global, also known as PNG Communications was founded in 1992 by Bernie Stevens, an experienced telecom professional. The company is headquartered in Cincinnati, OH and has offices in other big cities such as New York or Chicago. Power Net Global is an integrated provider of communications services: 1+ long distance, toll free service, dial up Internet access, dial around solutions, local phone plans, and more.

The toll free service from Power Net Global is the most popular among our customers for two main reasons: the service is stand alone and rates are low compared to other stand alone toll free plans we offer. In addition PNG is well known for providing quality service and 24/7 live support.

PNG Toll Free customer reviews

I have a PNG toll free number. The 4.5 ld rate is the lowest I could find for a stand alone service (I have my 1+ service with another provider).

PNG rules!
I've been with them since 2001 and never had any problems. I have 2 ld lines and 1 toll free.

Customer service problems
Could be very difficult company to get rid off once you sign up. I signed up my mom with them for long distance service. She went to nursing home at 94 and I had her home phone disconnected. Contacted PNG who refused to close the account without the password. Later I found the password but then they still refused and wanted power of attorney proof. The simple fact that her phone number was disconnected and it was impossible to provide long distance service was not enough for them. How unreasonable....

In contrast I had service with Pioneer Telephone. A simple email telling them that my telephone was disconnected was enough for them.

Beware
I had PNG since 2003 and was mostly satisified with the company. However, in 2009 they raised my rates from from 9 cents to 14 cents without any notification. They stated their provider raised rates and they did not have time no notify me. I discovered this 4 months later. When I tried to close the account, they were extremely difficult and unprofessional. I had to repeatedly call customer service and they continued to charge me monthly recurring rates even though I had proof that my local provider switched me to a different company. It was a very dissapointing experience at the end and they lost me as a returning customer for good.

MANY ongoing problems with toll free # for our business
I was with a different company for years, and then they had a take-over by Power Net Global. We have a home base business with a toll free #. We are constantly having problems with the toll free #......things like customers calling and we can't hear them or they can't hear us......customers not getting a ring......and sometimes very poor audibility.....time lapses in the person speaking like it is an overseas call. The company won't do a thing until it happens 2 or more times. Then they try, somewhat....and it might get fixed for a month or maybe even 2 months....then another problem arises. This has been going on for 6 or more months and I am fed up. I am currently looking for a different company. I would suggest you do the same.

PowerNet Global - Not so Powerful in Customer Service
As a business customer of five years, I share the following:

Horrific customer service. Rude. Aggressive. Actively looking for ways *not* to help. Adversarial at all levels. Inaccurate record keeping. Unwilling to assist.

In a world of Tom Peters, 'Wow!" experiences, this is WOW! in a bad way. UNBELIEVABLE.

In a recent round of altercations, I asked one of the representatives at PNG about the culture there - wondering why this attitude seemed so prevelant. They indicated that a lot of customers feel thay way but that it boils down to how individual representatives handle the calls.

Really? Who's watching the service metrics? Ever hear of call recording? Someone should look closely at the customer experience here and fire the staff - or take them to Nordstrom and show them what a quality customer experience looks like.

That said...

I am waiting now to see how they handle a current issue.

If you have other options, it is my recommendation that you pursue them.

These comments are helpful. But BBB gives them an "A+" rating. Not sure that reconciles with some of the problems noted here.
